Roseau, Dominica (October 4, 2016) – Rising dancehall superstar, Andrae Hugh Sutherland, better known as Popcaan will rock Festival City at the 19th edition of the World Creole Music Festival when he performs on Night One, Friday 28th October at Windsor Park Sports Stadium, Roseau, Dominica.

The dancehall star who has emerged as one of the leading lights of the dancehall movement in Jamaica over the past several years, will bring his vast popularity and showmanship to the Festival stage on a night that is sure to have patrons screaming and shouting for more music, more rhythm and more vibes.

This dancehall star who has toured extensively around the world, including Europe, North America, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa has an impressive collection of music since his breakout in 2010 following his release of the hit song “Clarks”, a collaboration with his mentor, Vybz Kartel. Since then he has signed a multi-record deal with Mixpak Records and has worked with many top rappers, dancehall stars and others including Canadian rapper Drake and Kanye    West among others.

The Jamaican deejay, dancehall singer, song writer and award winning performer continues in the tradition of other dancehall and reggae stars to perform at the WCMF including Elephant Man, Damien “Junior Gong’ Marley, Taurus Riley, Third World, Steel Pulse, Beenie Man, Sizzla, Sean Paul, Luciano and many others. Fans of dancehall music can await a musical treat and great excitement as Popcaan shines on the Festival stage for his first ever appearance in Dominica.


The 19th edition of the World Creole Music Festival is slated for October 28-30, 2016 at the Windsor capital.  A line-up of top regional and international acts covering a diverse range of creole music from the infectious Bouyon to the sweet sensation of Soca, Calypso, Reggae, Afro-beat, Haitian Kompa to the vibrating sounds of Cadence-lypso and Zouk awaits patrons.

The main headliners of this year’s festival include Dominica’s Lady of Song Ophelia, Dominica’s song-bird Michele Henderson, Kreyol La, Dédé St. Prix, Haitian international super-star Wyclef Jean, T-Micky, African pop sensation Akon, Timaya, reggae star Popcaan, Morgan Heritage, Gentleman, Soca group Kes The Band, along with Dominican bands WCK, Triple Kay Global, Original Bouyon Pioneers, Extasy, Breve, Midnight Groovers and Bouyon Ambassador Asa Banton.
