From Christopher Anmameade (stayed February 2017, traveled with friends)
I walked into the penthouse unit at Cloud 9 and the only words I could utter were “wow, wow. Incredible!!!”
This beautiful boutique hotel overlooks a cove of calm waters for swimming and red rocks . The semi private beach is partially surrounded by lush vegetation and coconut trees. My large unit was well appointed and beautifully furnished. A large private deck runs off every room of the unit. When I chose to remain indoors I had an ocean view from almost every room of my unit.
My favorite time of day was daybreak. I would lie in bed to witness the stages of sunrise.
It was an incredible process. Day would literally break. The clouds would turn from dark to gold. The sun would then begin playing hide and seek behind the clouds. After a while the sun would appear as a large golden ball in the sky. That ball was then reflected in the water so that sky and sea were lighted up by the glow of the sun.
My hosts, Tom and Sheri, could not be any more gracious. They had visited Dominica for many years before moving permanently to the island. They directed me to restaurants and various jaunts in Calibishie including the nearby chocolate factory.
My room included breakfast and my hosts provided incredible breakfasts each morning. I even had the pleasure of accompanying Sheri to a zumba class, something she enjoys teaching to local women.
My stay was so positive that I mentioned to Tom and Sheri that I want to book for next year. I would be very disappointed if Cloud 9 had become so popular and I couldn’t get a room!!!
Room Tip: You’ll get a sea view no matter your room location. The penthouse offered the best view because it was on the top floor.
